Fw: RE: Silver Lake Oct. 3rd 4th 5th

From: Larry Pilon Subject: RE: Silver Lake Oct. 3rd 4th 5th

Yo Silver Lake crew,
Due to over whelming demand we are being forced to schedule a trip to our favorite sand box.
The new crew members only had a taste of cat box size sand pits and now want more!
So far the first weekend of October looks good for half of us.
Calling all Silver Lake riding veterans Chad , Greg, and Fred, please let me know first if you are interested.
Second, see if the first weekend of October is open for you.
Third, what the hell will Greg be riding?!?!?
Chad can you also forward the map to our new camp ground?
The new camp ground is very close to a pond where you can fish if you would like.
That is where Chad caught Greg, but he was too small and had to throw him back in. He maybe a keeper this year!
Also feel free to invite anyone that maybe interested.

The Mounds in Mount Morris, May 17, 2008

We have no pictures from today but it was a fun day. We started out really early and arrived at the park around 930am. It was already getting full. The weather was beautiful...unlike they forecasted...

An hour later we were taking Scott (his first time here) around some high technical area, when another group of riders turned the corner at the same time as us... with the path only a foot or so wider than the Big Bear, there wasn't a whole lot of room for us to go.

I was leading, so of course I got hit. Not by one but two of their riders.... wheels were up in the air, rims were bent, and the steering on the big bear is slightly off now, but no one was hurt. Luckily. Everyone was pretty apologetic...but secretly I blame them...

The park was really dry, in fact we've never seen it so dry before. But we did manage to come across two of the muddiest places in the park.

First, since I'm on the Big Bear, I get to go first at a water passing. I came to one I thought was just bit too mysterious, so I turned around and took off another way. Apparently Scott had other plans and buried the Suzuki in the water pretty good. I came back and found him standing on his machine. We tried to pull him out going forward and successfully succeeded in burying the Big Bear (with 4 wheel drive). I blame it all on Sean's bad directions. We pulled the Big Bear out with the Outlaw and then went around and pulled the Suzuki out backwards with the Big Bear. And found another way across.

The second muddy place we found was here: (but with out the trucks).

A bunch of ATV's were testing their skills at crossing it. Although already knowing this was a bad idea, I listened to Sean and attempting to cross. I got about 3/4 of the way through muddy soupy mess and the Big Bear once again got stuck. A guy with a winch came over and helped my out. Suggested I get my own winch.... Sean???
We got everything loaded and home before the rain actually came=a semi-successful day!!
How was your weekend??

St. Helens May 17th

Well here are the key moments of the May 17th St.Helens trip. It was the debut of the LT230.

Then there was a big puddle.
Rode by a shoe tree, very rare in this part of Michigan,.

Greg got stuck.

And well...Greg stayed stuck,

so we left him.

If his wife calls looking for him just say you last seen him at a power sports dealership buying a new quad.

May 23rd (Memorial Day Weekend)
Scott, Jen, and Dan are planning to go to Atlanta, MI if anyone else is interested.

May 30-31
Mio - Dan, Jen, Jana. & Sean, anyone interested?

Sept 12-15 (Tentatively)
UP, north of Newberry, approx. 4 days. Scott, Dan, Jen, Jana, & Sean are all in, anyone else?

Obviously, most of us are still open to short trips (i.e. Mounds, St Helens, etc) and even Silver lake (What weekend does everyone else have in mind? )

If anyone else has any ideas, post them!! Have a good week.

Club Meeting 5/9

Edited to Add (ETA): Sunnybrook has NO open bowling this week. We might have to find another place to bowl.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to the overwhelming response of our "What night should we meet week of May 5?" poll..our meeting has been scheduled for Friday, May 9th. The plan is to meet for dinner and then go bowling afterwards.

If you are unable to attend, I suggest putting together a list of available weekends and places you want to ride. Either comment with that list to this post or send out an email before Friday night.

More details to follow.

Thanks and Enjoy!!!

April 17 BBQ and 19th Ride

We had our first un-official Club BBQ on April 17th at Dan and Jen's place. We also did some maintenance on the machines and loaded up the trailer for our Sunday ride up to St. Helens, MI.
Here are some photos:

Scott, Sean, Larry and I (Jana) drove up to St. Helens, it was a blast. Still waiting on some photos from Larry. We drove two of the NEW machines for the first time on trails (the Suzuki and the Outlaw). What were the highlights guys???
