Rustic Rafters Cabins & Camping in August
Get ready for the weekend of August 6th-8th as MTR is planning on conquering the trails in and near Missaukee County. We will be staying at the wonderful Rustic Rafters and will have plenty of grilled food and Greg as the entertainment. The cabins fit only four people per rentel and are $55 a night. Last year we had put on a total of 106 miles of all day riding, and was also Fred's last ride since selling his fourwheeler and trailer. :(

St. Helens to Houghton Lake Ride
Maps! You do not need any maps where you are going…
The morning of Saturday the 22nd started as rain and cloudy, it was so wet that I did not have high hopes of the trail conditions being any good for sport quads. I packed a poncho and even made a last minute purchase of new boots before arriving in St. Helens.
Once on the trails the ride was smooth with no dust, no bugs, and no big puddles? Yep, it turns out the trails where perfect and well graded.

We made are way to the Denton Trial connector, then on to the Denton Creek Trails all the way to Houghton Lake. 
Not too bad for not having any maps, not that we did not get lost. But you know the old story of having to drive though a few subdivisions trying to find the trails then making a few left hand turns when we should have turned right, no gas, no food, and yet some how we always make it back. 
After the ride we agreed that these trails will have to be ridden again.

Day trip to St. Helens this Saturday the 22nd
Well we did have different plans and rather of conquered the trails on the east side of the Roscommon area, but due to the wildfires Chad made the executive decision to ride in St. Helens and go west for our one day get away.
We are planning on meeting off 75 and Mount Morris road exit at 8am in the Mobile gas station.
So far the riders will be Chad, Greg, and Larry. Let us know if you are interested in tagging along.
Chad had made some upgrades over the winter to the Z400; now let us see if the Suzuki is still a mud puddle magnet.

May 15, 2010 Frederic ATV Trails
Wow it's been a really long time since I've posted abotu ATVing. The group rode the Frederic ATV trails on Saturday. They were definitely tight and full of tree stumps and rocks and after so much rain the last week were surprisingly dry. Nonetheless we had beautiful perfect weather and a great ride!! Everyone stayed safe and the machines ran perfectly. Thanks Dan and Jen for letting the group stay over at your place just 40 minutes from the trail head.
We also visited a familiar snowmobile stop, the Swamp II Bar, for lunch. It's awesome to be able to ride into town on the ATVs to get gas and food.

Only hiccup would be the some trailer issues on the ride home. Half way home the trailer lights stopped working and Scott and Sean spent 2.3 hours rigging enough lights to get us home at 1:30am. As I type this, the guys have spent another 8 hours rewiring the trailers lights. :(

MTR Upper Peninsula Hulbert, MI snowmobile trip 2010
Many miles of riding was to be had in the UP, and it really was a free for all when it came to racking up the mileage on our sleds. A new MTR riding distance record was made when a few folks crossed the 500mile mark. While most of the group put in a not too shabby 300miles of almost non stop morning till night riding. The weather was perfect on this outing with the only wish of a little more snow on the trails. Most of trails where well groomed with some rough riding near towns and some icy patches in the corners per the lack of a good snow base. Despite a few tumbles(Evans, Ang, and Jana), a broken sign (Jessica), one broken tail light (Jenni), and one lucky day dreamer (Scott) No one was hurt and everyone had fun, even our first time renters and riders are up to riding again.A few of the destinations visited where Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls, and the Soo locks in Sault Ste Marie as well as others.

MTR in the UP
Our 3rd Annual MTR snowmobile trip is Feb 11-15, in the Upper Penninsula. Base camp is Hulbert, MI. We will be about 13 large, so look out for us!!! Looks like we should be getting some snow in the LP, hopefully it hits the UP as well.

NYE Ride
Base camp was Gravel Lake in Lawton, MI. New year's day we rode from Gravel Lake to Paw Paw, we stopped in Lawton for gas and a break at Decoy Duck's. Larry got ice cream (?). The trails were ok and the traffic was pretty decent too.
Saturday night we decided to head west toward Glenwood and Keeler. We stopped in Keeler Keg for dinner. Food was decent and the pizza looked good. We'll be trying there again. It took us about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there from Gravel Lake. We saw heavier traffic this route. Good news is, we are getting more snow. On the way back we detoured to Sister Lakes for gas and a visit to the Lakeview Inn. Bad fog and low temperatures rolled in during the ride back. Visibility was really bad
